What to Bring on a RKC Kayak Tour
Riverside Kayak Connection tours will provide each paddler with the appropriate gear for your tour, including the appropriate kayak for the tour and your size, a personal flotation device (PFD), paddle and safety gear. RKC requires all paddlers to wear a properly fitted PFD and keep it zipped up at all times. REMEMBER: Kayaking is a water sport and there is always a chance for getting wet, please see the guidelines below for what you should and should not bring with you on your tour.
Riverside Kayak Connection will provide:
-
Kayak appropriate for the tour and your body type/size.
-
Coast Guard approved PFD with whistle.
-
Paddle appropriate for kayak and your size.
Recommended Items:
-
Appropriate clothing for weather conditions (i.e. quick drying, synthetic materials are best). Cotton and/or denim are not appropriate for paddle sports, as they do not dry quickly.
-
Change of clothes kept in a dry bag in case you get wet and want to change after the paddle.
-
Shoes that can get wet, we recommend water shoes without straps or laces.
-
Hat for sun protection, one with a wide brim is best.
-
Sunglasses, polarized are best for on the water and something to keep them afloat if they fall overboard.
-
Sunscreen and protective lip balm.
-
Hand wipes or sanitizer.
-
Water bottle and snacks if you get hungry with activity.
-
Waterproof camera.
What NOT to bring:
-
Cell phones or other electronics that cannot get wet.
-
Jewelry
-
Wallets or purses
-
ANYTHING of value that cannot get wet that you MUST bring should be stored in a waterproof container, such as a Pelican Case or dry bag (plastic bags are not recommended to keep your valuables dry).
